PrEP Services

PrEP, or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, refers to a daily oral medication that people take to lower their chances of acquiring HIV.

Who Should Take PrEP?

PrEP can benefit a variety of people in different circumstances. PrEP may be a good option for people who:

  • Are HIV-negative and have not consistently used condoms
  • Have had penetrative sex in the past 6 months
  • Have multiple sexual partners, who do not know their HIV status
  • Have a partner with HIV
  • Have recently contracted or have a partner(s) with an STD, i.e. (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, HPV)
  • Inject drugs and share their injection equipment
  • Are women with an HIV-positive partner and who want to get pregnant
If any of these categories fit you, consider taking PrEP to decrease the risk of contracting HIV.

PEP Services

PEP, or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis, is a medication that is taken by the patient to prevent HIV after possible exposure.

If you’ve been exposed to HIV, time is essential! PEP must be started within 72 hours after recent possible exposure to HIV. If prescribed PEP, you’ll need to take it, continually, for 28 days. Retesting after the 28 days is required to make sure that the PEP medication was effective.
